Australia Sri Lanka Business Council (Formerly known as Aus-Lanka Business Council inc). was incorporated in 2003 in Victoria, as a Not for Profit organisation to serve the growing business community and the professionals who migrated from Sri Lanka, in the late 19th century. This was and still is the only Council to serve the, Business Community in Victoria. As the demand for its services escalated, the Council stepped up as the premier organisation to foster bi-lateral relations between the two countries and facilitate visiting trade and investment delegations to and from Sri Lanka. The Council develops and maintains close relationships in Australian and Sri Lankan with government agencies, the diplomatic corporations and industry bodies. The Council’s main objectives are:
- To engage as a Premier body to represent Sri Lankan Business Community in Australia
- To assist the Sri Lankan business community in Australia in expanding their networks assist with product launches and enhancing and updating their knowledge on the changes in applicable legislations
- To facilitate and provide, business promotional, consulting and many services to visiting Sri Lankan businessmen, business delegations, government officials and trade delegations
- To encourage and establish business relationships, between Australian and Sri Lankan Private sector.
- To exchange information on trade and investment with the appropriate bodies
To co-operate with the Sri Lankan Government Agencies in Australia in the pursuit of their objectives in relation to Bilateral Trade, Investment, Technical & Economic Co – Operation, Tourism and Services between Sri Lanka Australia
- To secure participants and delegations to Trade, Investment, Tourism and other forums taking place in Sri Lanka.
- To participate in Australian & International Forums
